Ask HN: What's Our GTM for Gno.land?

Hacker News - Wed, 08/12/2026 - 2:57pm

We built gno.land, an L1 like Ethereum but instead of Solidity, you can program in Go. We developed a custom virtual machine that interprets the Go AST. Instead of databases, ORMs, and byte serialization the virtual machine auto-persists the delta of memory objects after each transaction.

Exposed (public) functions in your "smart contract" can be imported by third parties by simply 'import gno.land/r/user/dapp' as if it were a library dependency. Underneath the hood is a multi-user permissions system kind of like the linux operating system. You can think of Gno as a multi-user extension of Go. Gno.land is a browser within a browser that lets you explore markdown rendered output of smart contracts. The website itself is rendered by Gno.

We made it because we like the idea of a better smart contract system, and it is simply much better than Solidity. It runs at geth speed, though in the future it could be optimized, so it can't compete with Solana memecoin culture.

I made it because I want a censorship proof information publishing system, and the most elegant way to express that as a language nerd is by a web of persistent Go objects. But there's a barrier to entry for using crypto (and it's got a deserved bad reputation), and people don't care to adopt a new system these days unless money is involved.

The market is down and this is a genuinely innovative L1. How should we think about GTM?

p.s. mainnet is launching in a month.
