Show HN: Built a textual watermarking tool to catch internal message leakers

Hacker News - Tue, 04/01/2025 - 8:48pm

Hi HN,

Last weekend I hacked together a fun little tool based on an idea I had — watermarking internal messages textually.

The concept:

- You write an internal message (e.g. a sensitive update). - The tool generates multiple unique, paraphrased templated variants. - You send a different version to each recipient. - If one leaks (e.g. a screenshot), you can visually identify which version it was and who it was sent to.

I posted it on Reddit (/r/sideprojects) and it got 70k views, so figured I’d share it here too!

It’s:

- Very early and buggy - Fully open-source - Probably not useful for 99.99999% of people. - Just a cool random concept I wanted to experiment with

Repo: https://github.com/adrian-kong/ghostmark Video demo is under the repo.

If there’s interest, I can make a live demo page so people can try it without cloning the repo using my API key instead.

Would love to hear what you think — especially around even slightest of use cases or ways to improve it!

Show HN: Proxy AI – AI so you don't have to

Hacker News - Tue, 04/01/2025 - 8:23pm

I built an AI that handles all your digital interactions autonomously - no summaries, no supervision needed. Proxy AI reads your emails, responds to messages, posts on social media, and even handles work communications without requiring your involvement.

After dogfooding the product for a year in closed beta, I'm opening it up for wider testing. Using our proprietary AI model (open source coming soon!), it creates a seamless digital version of you that's more responsive and engaged than the real thing. Check out our technical blog for implementation details and the evolution of the system. Looking for feedback from the HN community on ethical implications and scaling challenges.

All in the spirit of the day of course.

Ask HN: Reclaim a 2 letter Twitter handle?

Hacker News - Tue, 04/01/2025 - 8:15pm

I have a friend who lost his 2-letter Twitter handle because of a hack.

Now it won't let him set a 2 letter handle again (needs to be 4 characters).

He's had it for 18+ years and would love it back.

Any Twitter engineers that could help?

Ask HN: Given the choice, would you write documentation if you didn't have to?

Hacker News - Tue, 04/01/2025 - 7:50pm

I personally find writing internal documentation very monotonous even though I know it's important.

I'm curious if you were told you could have decent internal documentation automatically generated for you that were good enough, but not competitive w/ human maintained docs.

Would you still take the effort to write your own documentation?
