Show HN: Common Ground. A culture neutral daily word puzzle

Hacker News - Wed, 07/29/2026 - 9:29am

Hi! I have built Common Ground, a word puzzle that tries to not use groups or words that are specific to a particular cultures.

Why? In word puzzles I keep hitting the problem that some word puzzles rely US specific knowledge (sports teams, slang, etc) that would make it hard for a non-US English speaker to solve.

The game is sorting 16 words into 4 groups of 4 related words. There is a new puzzle every day. It's free, with no sign up, no ads.

The tech stack is all on Cloudflare: Pages, Workers KV & D1. KV for the daily game catalog, D1 for anonymously tracking progress to understand puzzle difficulty.

It's still early days, and I am calibrating the puzzles each week to try to hit a sweet spot. Some days are too hard, some too easy, most about right!

I'd be interested to hear what you think, from design to difficulty of puzzles and groups (no spoilers!).

Show HN: PipeCrab – a Rust voice agent that runs multiple tasks at once

Hacker News - Wed, 07/29/2026 - 8:32am

I built a framework for portable voice-agents in Rust. It addresses some problems that I had with other frameworks in the space (Pipecat, Livekit). Mainly, those frameworks are client-server models, where someone needs to host a python/node server, and then build a app with the client SDK.

Because Pipecrab agents are portable, they allow us to build self-standing applications.
