In August, I posted here about TeXbrain, a LaTeX editor that runs completely in the browser, with no need for an account or server. (I didn't excpect it to get that much feedback, bug reports and help from here!)

This is the same idea for the other half of my studies, the handwritten notes. I take them on a convertible laptop, and I've had a hard time with apps for that, taking notes from a device to another, exporting as PDF, needing an account for many of them, etc. So I've been working on the version of it that I always wanted. Open a tab, the slides of the lecture or multiple PDFs open next to the page or even become the page, write on them with my pen, and nothing ever leaves my browser.

braiNOTES is a static website and has no backend. Strokes are perfect-freehand outlines which support pen pressure, the PDF files are rendered by pdf.js in a worker, and for storage it uses IndexedDB a moment after every change. No account, no analytics, and completely offline and local-first. You can export notebooks as .brainotes files, which in the background is a zip with one json per page + the PDFs and pictures you import. It keeps the original pages and puts the vectorized ink on top, this way the text stays selectable in the slides.

In Study mode, the PDF opens on the side of the tab, you can read it simultaneously to the notes, snip a formula or diagrams directly into the notes with the snip tool, and then write around it. In Board mode, you have just a Whiteboard for tutoring or simply for more place for exercises, and can also highlight or draw things with the laser pointer tool while presenting.

The line of the ink appears the moment the pen moves, and a one euro filter calms shaky hands while you write + a light a refit when you lift the pen.

I also have a video editor and an animation tool which are still a work in progress, on the same GitHub profile. I'm also working on a MCP server for each tool, so you can use your MCP client to do further things with your notes, automatically edit videos on the video editor, etc. That feature will of course be off unless you turn it on and will only be able to talk to localhost.

I've used this tool for every lecture in the last few months and a few friends use it too. Bug reports, fixes, recommendations, feedback are all welcome!

i usually have several coding agents running at once (who doesnt nowadays?); claude code, codex, grok and none of them knows what they are working on. if codex figures something out, i want claude to know it, I'm the one copying it across.

i built agent-mesh which acts a hub for these agents. every agent that loads it joins a small hub that runs as your user. from there it can: - list other live agent sessions on your machine, message them, read messages back from them - spawn a new agent (claude, codex, whatever) as a seperate process in its own tmux session so you can keep working while you're on the go

its still early but im surprised to see how well this works, i'd love it if everyone could give it a try

This started by watching the built-in tool calls in Claude code. We noticed that a LOT of the time was being spent searching for lines of code with regex. This approach makes sense when you are working in an unknown environment, but we all work inside of some codebase structure and tracking. This took us down the rabbit hole of codebase indexing and led to us building Indexio. Indexio was built to eliminate the time and tokens agents waste rediscovering a codebase. Regex calls return lots of data each time to the context window which causes bloat over time with items that don't really matter. Since codebase work container mostly static files indexing them and quickly getting to data for discovery is what we were trying to solve.

Indexio index's the codebase to its internal DB and then returns what is needed via MCP when asked. We ran into some fun issues when trying to force the session to use a tool call for lookups so there is some aggressive tool call logic which attempts to override built-in lookup tools. If something isn't in the index it will just fallback to regex lookups.

The whole system is a single binary written in Rust for performance. In our real world testing we are seeing about 50%-60% reduction in token usage compared to the built-in tools, and near instant lookup times compared to multiple seconds for each regex lookup. One place that indexio does come up shorter than then regex is when looking up symbols. We found that most of the agent's work was done looking at strings of words rather than symbols, but if you have a workflow that is heavy in this specific situation just know it may not fit.

We opened sourced everything and would love to hear feedback. Huge Shout out to CocoIndex who gave us the inspiration for this idea.
