Show HN: I'm resurrecting Candystand on a modern web stack

Hacker News - Wed, 10/14/2026 - 7:44am

I was telling my kids about Candystand, and when I tried to have them play on various archive sites found that it was annoying to get going in a modern browser.

So I reverse engineered six Candystand games and added online multiplayer and chat and some basic mobile support as a little preservation project for these games that were such a staple of my childhood (and still hold up today, honestly).

Free forever! No ads. Just trying to help the world have a little bit of nostalgic fun.

Show HN: Run macOS on FreeBSD's Bhyve on AMD

Hacker News - Wed, 10/14/2026 - 6:46am

I needed to run macOS for tests on my FreeBSD server.

Got it booting by working at the CPU-register level and troubleshooting the interaction between bhyve’s emulator and XNU—work done by gpt sol, guided by a human.

Hope this is useful. Happy to answer questions.
