Ask HN: Did you build or buy your customer analytics?

Hacker News - Tue, 05/20/2025 - 10:49am

I'm part of the founding team at Lemonado, building an embedded analytics tool for SaaS teams that want to give users self-serve dashboards without spending weeks on dev time or budget.

My last startup grew to 50k+ monthly users and we ended up outsourcing a clunky analytics portal that cost over $4k and took 8 weeks to launch. It was unbranded, hard to maintain, and never really felt like part of the product.

Now we're trying to solve that pain for others, especially smaller teams without extensive development resources.

Hoping to hear from folks who’ve had to ship customer-facing analytics:

Did you build in-house or use a tool (like Explo, Luzmo, etc.)? Why?

What were the biggest tradeoffs or frustrations?

How did you handle multi-tenancy, branding, or performance?

What do your users actually expect from analytics inside your product?

What's still missing from current solutions?

The AI Fix #51: Divorce by coffee grounds, and why AI robots need your brain

Graham Cluely Security Blog - Tue, 05/20/2025 - 10:01am
In episode 51 of The AI Fix, a Greek man's marriage is destroyed after ChatGPT reads his coffee, a woman dumps her husband to marry an AI called Leo, and Graham wonders whether it's time to upload his brain into a lunchbox-packing robot. Meanwhile, a humanoid robot goes full Michael Crawford in a Chinese factory, the UK government launches an AI to read angry public consultations, and Mark dreams of a world where robots finally have common sense - and swear like sailors. Plus Graham uncovers how AI is wrecking relationships and inventing soulmates, and Mark explains why Google's Gemini-powered bots might be smarter, more dexterous, and more emotionally stable than most of your exes. All this and much more is discussed in the latest edition of "The AI Fix" podcast by Graham Cluley and Mark Stockley.
