Show HN: Fast as Fuck AI image editing website

Hacker News - Sun, 04/06/2025 - 11:43am

OpenAI's gpt4o is absolutely insane at image editing.

However, it's . Vizgen is .

Does it have the same quality? No.

But it's roughly ~36x faster (3mins vs 5secs) and I think there's merit in that.

I'm mainly looking for feedback!! I'd love it if you could try it out and give me your honest thoughts on it.

Happy prompting

Tell HN: I asked an AI to generate a logo, it gave me the finger

Hacker News - Sun, 04/06/2025 - 11:38am

I am no graphics designer, no artist. I'm a software engineer. I'm definitely not a "prompt engineer".

I'm currently working on an open source project ( https://link-society.github.io/flowg/ ), and I've been told that I need a logo.

I don't actually care much for a logo actually. But this sunday, I was bored, and I was glossing over some AI based logo generation tools.

I tried this one: https://www.design.com/maker/logos

With the following "prompt":

Business Name: flowg Keywords: pipeline, log And one of the result was a nice middle-finger: https://ibb.co/n87BKj9H

That might be the most human/realistic response I got from an AI ever :D

Show HN: Lessons Learned from the Friends Episode Tagging Project

Hacker News - Sun, 04/06/2025 - 11:38am

I tagged every episode of the American sitcom "Friends" and wrote about what I learned from the experience. The link is to the "lessons learned" summation -- there's a link to the actual project at the top of the page.

Also, there's an HTML web component linked from the main project as well -- it allows filtering of tag-based items.

Ask HN: Is there an intuition for Minesweeper parameters?

Hacker News - Sun, 04/06/2025 - 11:35am

Playing Minesweeper, 9x9 with 10 mines is usually solvable without taking risks, but 9x9 with 18 is not. Is there an intuitive explanation for what makes Minesweeper games solvable?

I'm sick of subscriptions, so I built an alternative for everyone

Hacker News - Sun, 04/06/2025 - 10:58am

I’m done with subscription tyranny. So I built ARES: a one-click pay-per-use platform that lets users escape monthly fees and lets businesses earn frictionless revenue.

Why this exists:

1. 47% of US Consumers feel subscription fatigue 2. 33% refuse to get a new subscription unless they cancel an existing one. 3. The problem’s getting worse as AI floods the market with new services daily.

How It Works:

1. Users fund their ARES account with credits 2. Partners add "Sign in with ARES" to their platform and track usage through our API when a user uses something 3. Partners earn when credits are spent.

No credit cards. No subscriptions. Just pay for what you actually use.

Why You’ll Love it:

1. Extra revenue stream from users who hate subscriptions. 2. Higher conversion rates (no credit card friction at checkout. In fact, no checkout page at all). 3. Takes <1 day to implement (seriously, our API is super simple).

If you’re interested in integrating ARES, feel free to comment or email jonan@joinares.com

Let’s end subscription chaos together!
