I come from Assam, India. Assamese is my native language. We do not have good solutions for unicode based Assamese typing. So I decided to develop Aakhor, a cross platform desktop app for easy Assamese typing. Aakhor is powered by an on-device transformer based neural net for English to Assamese transliteration.

Training the model was a struggle since I couldn't find any datasets available for training. So I asked my friends to volunteer for a data collection effort through a gamified data collection portal. The model training was done in my local computer with an rtx 3060.

Assamese is one of the 22 scheduled languages in India. Even then, my language has not seen much light in terms of advancements in AI, compared to other mainstream languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Gujrati or Bengali. Moreover, there are other North Eastern regional languages such as Bodo, Rabha, Karbi and Khasi, which stand further back.

My goal is to expand my app to include other regional languages in North East India. So, if you're willing to contribute, please get in touch with me at kabyaniltalukdarindia@gmail.com.

Would it be possible to grow sensory neurons into other parts like an armwrist? Then with a few inputs I could train to manipulate a bluetooth armband to replace a mouse

Hello HN,

I use the text expander for my work all the time but It always bothered me that they don't have mobile apps. I wanted to copy and paste notes/templates from the keyboard.

So, I created a side project, CopyNote.

I would appreciate any feedback on it.
