Show HN: BabyGenerator – AI-Powered Baby Face Preview

Sat, 11/16/2024 - 7:12am

Hi everyone! I've developed BabyGenerator (https://babygenerator.online/), a web tool that uses AI technology to help expectant parents visualize what their future baby might look like.

The idea came from my personal experience when my wife and I were expecting our first child. We were always wondering who our baby would look like, so I decided to create a tool to help expectant parents visualize this.

How it works: 1. Upload photos of both parents 2. Analyze facial features 3. Generate multiple possible combinations using AI 4. Provide previews of the child at different ages

A free trial is available for users to experience the service. All processing is done server-side with strict data handling protocols (images are deleted after processing) to ensure user privacy.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions for improvement. What features would you like to see added?

Note: This is an experimental tool for entertainment purposes and should not be taken as scientific prediction.

Qcom elite uses per-cluster DVFS, with cores in a cluster share the same freq

Sat, 11/16/2024 - 7:10am

I recently purchased a Xiaomi 15 Pro, which features two clusters (6 E-Cores + 2 P-Cores) with all cores in the same cluster operating at the same frequency.

In contrast, Apple has supported per-CPU DVFS since the M1, allowing each core to run at different frequencies and providing greater flexibility. BTW, Linux also supports this: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20221024043925.25379-5-marcan@marcan.st/

> This driver implements CPU frequency scaling for Apple Silicon SoCs, including M1 (t8103), M1 Max/Pro/Ultra (t600x), and M2 (t8112).

> Each CPU cluster has its own register set, and frequency management is fully automated by the hardware; the driver only has to write one register. There is boost frequency support, but the hardware will only allow their use if only a subset of cores in a cluster are in non-deep-idle. Since we don't support deep idle yet, these frequencies are not achievable, but the driver supports them. They will remain disabled in the device tree until deep idle is implemented, to avoid confusing users.

Question: What’s the trade-off: PPA, R&D costs, or something else?
